IMI-K conducted a workshop exclusively for engineers christened ‘Face Interviews with Confidence’ on 20th and 21st January, 2012. Students from Bengal Engineering & Science University, Shibpur, B.P. Poddar Institute of Management and Technology, Jadavpur University and Seacom Engineering College participated in the workshop.
The event stated with panel discussion on ‘Why engineering students with good academic performance do not get selected in corporate interviews?’ by placement officers namely Professor Manas Kumar Sanyal, Professor & Head – Dept. of HRM and Dean – Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, Bengal Engineering & Science University, Shibpur, Mr. Siddhartha Bhattacharyya, Officer of Placement & Training, Jadavpur University and Mr. Soumitra Chatterjee, CEO, The Center for Personal Transformation. The discussion was followed by communication tips by Professor Ravi Kumar, an expert in soft skills and a guest faculty at IMI-K. Mock interviews were conducted on the following day by HR managers Mr. Anindya Majumder, Senior Managing Consultant, IBM India Private Limited and Mr. Ajaya Kumar Sahoo, General Manager – Corporate HR, RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group.
The overall feedback was overwhelming. The students suggested that the workshop added real value to the takeaways and this kind of workshop should be organized by IMI-Kolkata in near future.
